A little earlier voice announcement should be fine. And the voice is robotic. It is sometimes difficult to listen the voice announce. I hope to have clear voice with Magellan.

Great entry level GPS but lacking some functions
I received the 1470 and gave it a thorough but fair test (600 mile road trip) this past weekend. It performed all advertised functions as described well.

Once the satellite is acquired the product performs well. I think three to five minutes to find a satellite is much to long. One can get lost in that amount of time.

    Shame on Magellan
We purchased the Roadmate 1470 days before our month long roadtrip. Day two into the trip the unit began to fail with a message stating it needed to shut down.

    Powered down repeatedly
I’d like to give the Magellan RoadMate my whole-hearted endorsement. But one big frustration, where the unit kept powering down after the first use, left me seriously in the…

    1470 Compared to TomTom One
I have used TomTom One for several years, but I wanted a larger screen and spoken streets.
    I got a Magellin 1470.

Great GPS for the money. Works as advertized. I live in Charlotte, NC and also travel to New York once in awhile.
